Meet Our Radiologists
Jefferson Radiology Associates, Inc. is a group of radiologists who have been board-certified by the American Board of Radiology and have been affiliated with West Jefferson Medical Center since 1978. In addition to reading for MRI of Louisiana, JRA also reads for West Jefferson Imaging Center, The Family Doctors Clinics, and the West Jefferson Women’s Imaging and Breast Care Center. JRA ensures that one of our certified radiologists is always on staff in-house during exams in case of an allergic reaction or an emergency.
Dr. Michael Alline
Dr. Alline is from New Orleans. He obtained a BS in Biochemistry at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA. He received his medical degree from the LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana followed by one year of internship in Internal Medicine. He also completed a residency in diagnostic radiology at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York, in 1995. He went on to receive his board certification from the American Board of Radiology. He is also a Certified B Reader for pneumoconiosis. Dr. Alline has been with Jefferson Radiology Associates, Inc. since 1995.

Dr. John Balart
Dr. Balart is from New Orleans. He obtained a BS in Chemistry at University of Georgia and then received his medical degree from the LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana. He has completed one year of internship in Internal Medicine from the LSU School of Medicine, two years of residency in diagnostic radiology from the LSU Dept of Radiology, and two years of residency in diagnostic radiology from Tulane Medical Center. In 2009, he completed a fellowship in Abdominal Imaging at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology in St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Balart received his board certification from the American Board of Radiology in 2008 and joined Jefferson Radiology Associates, Inc. the next year.

Dr. Charles Chism
Dr. Chism is a native of Southhaven, MS. He earned a B.A. in Biochemistry from the University of Mississippi in 2005. He graduated with honors from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in Jackson, MS in 2011. He then completed a one year transitional internship at Trident Health in Charleston, SC from 2011-2012 and a four year diagnostic radiology residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, TX from 2012-2016. He served as chief resident from 2015-2016. He completed a one year sports, orthopedic, and emergency imaging fellowship in Houston, TX from 2016-2017. He obtained board certification from the American Board of Radiology in 2017 and joined Jefferson Radiology Associates in 2018.

Dr. Michael D'Antonio
Dr. D’Antonio is a New Orleans native. He obtained a BSE from Duke University School of Engineering. He received his medical degree from the LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana followed by one year of internship in Internal Medicine. He also completed a residency in diagnostic radiology at Ochsner in New Orleans in 1994. Following that, he completed fellowships in Pediatric Radiology and Neuroradiology at the University of Alabama, Birmingham. Dr. D’Antonio received his board certification from the American Board of Radiology in 1994 and joined Jefferson Radiology Associates, Inc. in 2006.

Dr. William T. Dawson
Dr. Dawson is from Lafayette, Louisiana. He obtained a BS in Zoology at Louisiana State University. Then he received his medical degree from the LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana followed by a one-year internship in General Surgery. In 2011, he completed a residency in diagnostic radiology at UAB in Birmingham, Alabama and received his board certification from the American Board of Radiology. His Interventional Radiology Fellowship was completed at the MD Anderson Cancer Institute in Houston, Texas in 2012. The same year Dr. Dawson joined with Jefferson Radiology Associates, Inc.

Dr. James Hanemann
Dr. Hanemann is from New Orleans. He obtained a BS in Electrical Engineering at Duke University. He received his medical degree from the Tulane University Medical School in New Orleans, Louisiana followed by one year of internship in Internal Medicine at Alton Ochsner Hospital and Clinic. He also completed a residency in diagnostic radiology at Tulane University Medical Center, in 2004. Dr. Hanemann received his board certification from the American Board of Radiology in 2004 and joined with Jefferson Radiology Associates, Inc. two years later.

Dr. J. Walter Helgason
Dr. Helgason received his medical degree from Tulane University Medical School, followed by an internship at Tripler Army Medical Center. He also completed a residency at the Brooke Army Medical Center in 1998, and a fellowship from Columbus Radiology in 2001. Dr. Helgason received his board certification from the American Board of Radiology in 1998 and joined Jefferson Radiology Associates, Inc. in 2003.

Dr. Philip Kogos
Dr. Kogos is a New Orleans native. He obtained a BS in Biomedical Engineering at Tulane University, and then received his medical degree from the LSU School of Medical in New Orleans, Louisiana. He completed one year of internship in Internal Medicine from the University of Tennessee and a residency in diagnostic radiology at the University of Tennessee/Methodist University, in 2006. And in 2007, he completed a fellowship in Body Imaging at the Medical University of S. Carolina. Dr. Kogos received his board certification from the American Board of Radiology in 2006 and joined Jefferson Radiology Associates, Inc. in 2008.

Dr. Theriot is a native New Orleanian. He obtained a BS in Pre-medicine and BA in Classics at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, IN. He earned his medical degree from LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, followed by a one year internship in Internal Medicine at Presence St. Joseph Hospital in Chicago, IL. He then completed both a residency in diagnostic radiology and a fellowship in Neuroradiology at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. Following fellowship, Dr. Theriot joined Jefferson Radiology Associates in 2020.
